While League of Legends might rule the West and South Korea, Dota 2 dominates Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia. But how does the national distribution of casual players reflect the distribution of pro players? [...] To compare that to the national distribution of pro players, we used the 100 most popular players on DOTABUFF as a sample. While Russia has the largest share of casual players at 17.73 percent of the playerbase, its share of the pro population is relatively low at six percent. By contrast China, which holds 10.89 percent of the casual population, boasts more than a fifth of the pro population at 22 percent.
