Blizzard suspendiert Overwatch-Profi für absichtliches Verlieren

Daniel ‚dafran‘ Francesca, seines Zeichens ehemaliger Spieler für das Overwatch-Team von Selfless Gaming, wurde in der vergangenen Nacht sowohl von der Organisation Selfless als auch von Blizzard selbst suspendiert. Die Sperren folgen als Reaktionen auf seine Streams der letzten Tage, in denen er non-stop absichtlich dafür gesorgt hat, dass sein Team verliert. Die offizielle Sperre von Blizzard wirkt sich nicht nur auf die aktuelle Competitive-Season aus, sondern auch auf die ersten beiden Saisons der Overwatch Contenders-Turniere.

Im offiziellen Statement zur Suspendierung erklärt Blizzard, welchen Umfang diese Sperre für dafran hat: Zusätzlich zu einer allgemeinen Sperrung seiner Accounts für die nächste Woche ist er bis zum Ende der fünften Saison, die erst vor wenigen Tagen begann, vom Competitive-Modus ausgeschlossen. Da er ein professioneller Spieler ist, weitet sich die Suspendierung allerdings noch weiter aus. So wurde dafran nicht nur für die aktuell laufende ‚Season Zero‘, sondern auch für die kommende ‚Season One‘ der Overwatch Contenders-Turniere gesperrt. Sein bisheriges Team Selfless Gaming darf weiterhin mit einem Stand-In antreten. 

Das offizielle Blizzard-Statement

We have found that Dafran, from Overwatch Contenders team Selfless, has violated Rule 7.0 (Conduct) of the Overwatch Contenders Ruleset, which states the following:
All competitors and spectators are required to act in a respectful sportsmanlike manner at all times.
Due to this violation, as of June 8, Blizzard will suspend Dafran’s access to his current Overwatch accounts for one week, and from Competitive Play for the remainder of Season 5. Further, Dafran is disqualified from Overwatch Contenders Season Zero, will not be eligible for Overwatch Contenders Season one, and is disqualified from all future Blizzard-sanctioned tournament play for the duration of this competitive season. Dafran’s Overwatch Contenders team is still eligible to compete with a substitute.

Dafran selbst äußerte sich kurz zur aktuellen Situation und machte klar, dass es ihm egal sei, was mit ihm und seiner Karriere passieren würde. Trotz allem sei ihm aber klar, dass sein Verhalten eine negative Auswirkung auf die Organisation Selfless Gaming und auf seine Teammates hat.
