The WCS Circuit Summer Championship takes place from Friday to Sunday this week. One player who takes place in Montreal, Canada will be the dutch Kevin ‚Hastem‘ de Koning. His opponent in the second round will be the Australian Ethan ‚iaguz‘ Zugai. In the run-up to the tournament the Protoss Player from team Invasion eSport answered escene.de some questions about his opponents and his chances to take place in the WCS Global Playoffs.
»I think Invasion has one of the strongest rosters
in the foreign scene right now«
escene.de: Hello Harstem, how do you estimate your chances in the WCS Circuit Summer Championship from 12 to 14 August 2016 in Montreal, Canada?
Kevin ‘Harstem’ de Koning: Without the bracket being released it will be difficult for me to make any predictions. I am planning on winning though and give myself about a 15% chance.
By winning the WCS Circuit Summer Championship you could get a safe participation in the WCS Global Playoffs at the end of this year. But which opponents of the tournament will be the most difficult to play against?
Nerchio and ShoWTimE are the two scariest opponents. They are so solid yet capable of switching it up.

Your team invasion eSport has changed a lot again this year. How did you cope with the new players of the team?
MajOr is a solid addition, I have known him for years and have wanted him on my team since mid 2013. I think Invasion has one of the strongest rosters in the foreign scene right now.
The two tournaments in China and Germany in Gold Series International 2016 and the Homestory Cup XIII should stay in your head for a longer time. This was your first big successes. Additionally you earned $26,000 as prize money. How would you describe your feelings after the successes in March and June this year?
I was glad to finally see my hard work pay off, it is very frustrating to practice for a long time and not really get any results in return. This year things finally started going my way
»Yes, ever since I saw NaNiwa at blizzcon it has been my
dream to one day be there as well«
After this two great successes, what is your next goal? Do you want to participate in the WCS Global Playoffs?
Yes, ever since I saw NaNiwa at blizzcon it has been my dream to one day be there as well. I think I have decent chances as well against some of the koreans, so it would be a great test of my skill.
Since you have not qualified you for the IEM Season X Shanghai, the WCS Circuit Summer Championship will be your last chance to get enough WCS points for participation in the WCS Global Playoffs. Is the motivation at the third and final WCS Circuit tournament this year thus even greater?
My level of motivation seems to be rather consistent. I am just gonna prepare for this tournament like I always do and will try my absolute best. I think if my head is on 100% I have a good chance of taking it.

Tobias ‚ShoWTimE‘ Sieber or Gabriel ‚HeRoMaRinE‘ Segat. Which of the two German professionals you would prefer to meet?
Depends on the setting. I rather meet HeRoMaRinE in a tournament bracket, but I rather meet ShoWTimE at the beach to play some volleyball with.
Thank you for taking the time Harstem. The last words are yours.
Shoutout to my team invasion e-sport and all its sponsors. Also shoutout to my parents and fans for always supporting me.
