escene.de: Hello Patric, you have successfully qualified for the EPS Spring Season 2013 at the last weekend. Is it in your favor, that the ESET Masters Finals is the next tournament or would you have liked some more spare time in between these events?
Patric ‚Tarrantius‘ Dann: Hello Michael, the qualification for the EPS approached me, i think it was Shawn who told me about that at the friday before, that the following sunday was the qualification. I didn’t get prepared for the qualification in any way. I really don’t mind that both events are taking place one after another in such a short time.
»Singapur was very impressive«
You were able to win the finals against Daisy at the ESET Summer Masters. Are you considered to be a favourite at the Winter Finals due to that? How would you rate the participants in general?
I think we have a well balanced group of participants. Each player who could qualify for this has already proven what he is able to do in the past. I don’t see myself as a favourite but I do hope that I will succeed and maybe even win with the support of my fans. That has already worked out at the Gamescom.
You will have to face AcRo, who managed it to put you with a score of 0:2 into the loser bracket at the ESL Pro Series Germany qualification. Does this give you a bad feeling about the tournament?
Absolutely not. AcRo is a good friend of mine and none of us was playing seriously during the EPS qualification. I simply hope to do my best when it’s needed.
Do you like the fact that the Finals are being carried out offline in Hamburg or do you prefer playing at home in the environment you got used to?
In general I prefer to play at home because I really get nervous at LAN tournaments. But this nervousness leaves once your fans there start cheering for you.
You were allowed to participate at the IEM Singapur last November. A special experience?
Yes, Singapur was very impressive! I have never left Europe before and this time it directly brought me so far away. That was a big experience for me. Unfortunatly I failed with one map at the playoffs. I know now how I have to handle the jetlag (going to bed at 08:00 o’clock is awkward, because you will wake up at 03:00 o’clock ;)) and I hope to achieve better results in the future.
How does such an experience help you, considered other upcoming offline tournaments like the ESET Masters Finals in Hamburg?
These are completely different types of tournaments. I was alone in Singapur, a huge city and my english isn’t that good. Additionally other circumstances like the jetlag have been another important thing. That won’t be the problem in Hamburg because i will be one of the national representatives who play there. That makes me able to be more relaxed. I hope if i will win against AcRo that i will have the support of my fans. This makes a big difference.
There won’t be any Zergplayers in Hamburg. Does this play in your favor? What kind of matchup makes you feel the most confident at this time?
Fortunatly yes. All the Zergs are all at the IEM *lol*. I’m pretty confident in PvT, which i simply won’t lose anymore. As long as I get into the Lategame I nearly reach a rate of wins of ~90% at the moment in PvT. But Terrans are known to be tricky. Especially Satiini with his 1-1-1. PvP seems to be quite „funny” to play. I think at this moment, AcRo and me could play „Rock-Paper-Scissors” as well. 😀
At the end, we would like to take a look into the future. What are your goals for 2013? Are there any tournaments you would like to participate in or even win?
I would like to put some more effort into 2013. I don’t want to become so nervous anymore. Make a better use of my ambition. I’m too often in the position where i’m too determinend and then things won’t work, which makes it even worse. If I will become more relaxed, the philippine Terrans are not a problem anymore. 😉 I learned a lot in 2012 and I hope it will continue in 2013.
Thank you for the interview Patric. The last words are yours of course. Any shoutouts to your fans?
I thank you Michael. I thank all fans who support me and watch my stream. All those who come by regulary and watch it. Even if I’m annoyed and go offline after three lost PvZs, I do appreciate that! I would like to thank Otaku.de, EnerJ and TTEsports as well. Since I have got the Theron from TTEsports, i hit every Marine during micro’ing Stalker and that’s just great. 🙂 If you want to support me, you will find me at
