zonixx: It was a matter of time until the team breaks apart

imageescene.de:  Thank you Michele, that you found the time for this interview. The first question will be interesting to every fan. How did your team find together?
Michele ‚zonixx‘ Köhler: Hello, you’re welcome. We found together in a quite unusual way. After a long time, all players were together, talking in TeamSpeak, except approx, and we’re talking about the old times. After a short while, Marcel came up with the idea to create an EPS-Team. Actually i wasn’t going to play during this season and i also denied everything else before but i couldn’t refuse to play with these guys. Later on, i pulled approx into our team as well, because i think he perfectly fits in. Fortunately his current situation, concerning his job, made it possible for him to invest more time into gaming.

After the lineup was made public, the community accused  you of being only a ‘funteam’. What do you demand from yourself and your team?
If I started to think about the players, i think of fun as a matter of routine. We had fun for years and i think that’s not going to change. However it’s impossible for me to have fun and not being unsuccessful at the same time. You already should know that i’m very ambitious and i’m the all or nothing type of a person. We demand to reach the play-offs and everything less would be a big disappointment.
What’s the role of gob in your team? Is he only the sixth man or does he get involved into the tactical development?
Fatih is considered to be the sixth man only but he’s always there once we need him.
This has never been the case so far but i know we can rely on him, if we really needed his help.
Are you planning to visit international events or do you focus on the EPS?
Our focus lies on the EPS at this time. Even though we’re all players who like to play at international LAN’s and events, there’s nothing planned at the moment.

What if your team had not formed like this, what else did you have in mind?
I would have observed everything from a certain distance and asked myself, if it made any sense to play again.
The way you left mousesports wasn’t really nice. As a replacement for you, they engaged stravos and he didn’t play a single official afterwards. What did you think about your team, as it slowly crumbled one by one?
To be honest this made me even more confident in my decision and confirmed my actions. Sadly enough, it was a matter of time until the team breaks apart. I’m still feeling sorry for most of the players but there are also players who deserved an end like this. They had to pay the price for everything that led to this point at the finals.
After you are no longer a part of mousesports and you look back, what do you think was the reason for so many bad results? Was there a person involved, who turned out to be a source of unrest?
I’m not going to blame anyone now. It’s not a secret that some things didn’t work so well and you may find this source of unrest by reading some of the old interviews but this book is closed and there is no need to bring up this topic again.

There’s a lack of international top-teams from Germany. The community is already discussing and trying to find a reason for this problem. Do you think it’s a problem with the mentality and a wrong attitude or is there a lack of newcomers in Germany?
Sometimes the smallest problems can lead to a point, where it’s impossible for a team to become an international top-team. It’s often about the attitude. You’ll need five players who share the same mindset, the same goals and the same passion. It’s a team-oriented game, simple as that and the smallest stone on your feet can make the difference between winning and losing a match.
On the other hand, those teams don’t have the possibilities at this time. In order to become an international top-team, you’ll need to be present on an international level. What organisation from Germany can or will pay for this?
The topic of newcomers is also one of those things. What are newcomers nowadays? As young as possible? No LAN-experience? Completely new to the EPS? You’ll need to define all of this in order to find a solution for this. As you might have noticed already, i could answer your question to an epic extent and write a whole article about it. It’s a fact, that there’s no team in Germany, which could become an international top-team.
What do you think about CS:GO currently? People talked about a recoil-update etc. but actually only a few things have been changed so far. Most likely the pistols have been affected, especially the Glock, which smudged the fame of Valve to a certain degree.
Since it’s not a secret anymore that i like to play Dota2 as well, i have to make a comparison between both games. It’s absolutely ridiculous that Dota2 is still a beta-version and CS:GO is considered to be a release-version. Everybody who plays both of these games will agree to 100%. CS:GO is a disappointment in my opinion. There’s so much left to work on and i hope the developers will notice that in time before it’s too late.
If you had the chance, what would you like to change in CS:GO?
That’s also one of those questions, which needs an article on its own to be fully answered. But there are a few things that spontaneously come to my mind right now:
1. The prices of the weapons need to be reconsidered at some points.
2. The recoil of the SMG’s needs to be changed completely.
3. Smokes are too powerful.
4. Flashbangs are too random in my opinion.
5. The maps need to be redesigned to become much more skill-based.
6. There’s a need of movement-system in general. It can’t be true, that you won’t lose speed while pressing ADADAD.
7. A big event hosted by Valve. The International for CS:GO. Apparently they don’t believe in their own game.
8. Attractivity for the viewers in the stream. Personally, i think this game is disgusting to watch. Mindless jumping and shooting, random headshots from hundreds of kilometers away and players who mess around with the pumpgun. Even a headshot looks moderate and i don’t mean it in a violence-glorifying way.
I could easily come up with 50 more points, i’d like to change. This game needs to become more skill-based in general. There’s not enough space to show off your true skill in this game.
Thank you for this interview, Michele and we wish you good luck with your new team EYES ON U.
